It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

And where might I end up tonight? At a club? On a dinner date? At a vegan potluck that is unbeknownst to me a meeting for members of a cooperative farm? This outfit can be swung at any occasion. Happy Friday!

hellurrrr asked: Okay I have a question about what to wear to a wedding. I want to wear a nice dress shirt but, I'm not sure about what colors to wear, and what to wear really. I was thinking maybe a vest. I don't think i want to wear a suit jacket. Also for the pants, I wanted something skinny. Do you have any shops that you would suggest going to? & also just advice on what to wear?

Formal Skinny Pants: Try Ann Taylor’s Signature Polished Cotton Cropped PantsGap’s Really skinny pants, and J. Crew’s Cafe Capri.

If you are going to wear a vest, you will most likely want a button-up dress shirt. For women’s try Banana Republic Tailored non-iron sateen shirt, Devon & Jones Long Sleeve Stretch Sateen Blouse, or men’s try any of Topman’s dress shirts or Ratio Clothing. Department store boys sections will have dress shirts but the sleeves will probably be too short. Or you could hit the thrift stores and then get things tailored.

Vests: Try Banana RepublicH&MTopshop/Topman, J. Crew, Express, or thrift stores. Keep in mind that women’s vest are made a lot differently and will try to enhance your curves. If you don’t want that I’d go with men’s.

Bought Me Some Rockports

I admit that buying men’s shoes is not the best advice I can give out since I take a size 8.5/9 women’s and the smallest men’s shoes are still a size too big for me. But when I saw these Rockports on sale at the Tannery basement I thought I’d give it a try. I also needed brown shoes that were a dressier than my suede Bass ones. So far these Rockports are really comfortable and make me happy when I look down. This leads me to the question; have any of you ever bought boys’ shoes? I’d be interested in trying the boy’s Kenneth Cole Reactions.

Anonymous asked: Yo! Do you know where I can, as a tall skinny chick, find casual button ups? The whole boys section thing doesn't fly (I'm tall), and I hate the cut of women's shirts, and guys shirts are too baggy (I'm pretty skinny...) I have a few shirts from Express, so that kinda works, but I want something a little less formal, like without a stiff collar...

Ashley is tall and thin and does well with men’s polo button-ups (view here) and American Eagle (view here.) I don’t understand how they fit her so well because they are too big on me. I think rolling up the sleeves helps. She also told me that she just bought a women’s tall button-up from J. Crew (available here) that fits well. Other than that, I’d recommend buying a men’s shirt that fits your shoulder width and getting it tailored. It will probably cost about $20. I also know that Club Monaco offers free or very cheap tailoring… great deal for queers!

Any other ideas?

laughing-withkafka asked: Currently obsessed with Express boxer briefs. They come in some great colors, are moderately priced, ridiculously comfy, and the band around the top is stiff and holds up better than most other briefs.

Lauren in Express

My Oberlin Conservatory violist lesbro Lauren Spaulding is kicking it with some men’s Express fits of wonder. I’m impressed cause men’s Express clothes were too big on me when I tried them on, but I think rolling up the sleeves and tucking it in helps. She says, “I like clean lines, European styles, and like to make bold statements with both my clothes and my personality.” BAM.

White V-Neck Love

In my world, less is more. And when you have jeans and a T-shirt that fit well, you don’t need any more. Wear more the next day. Your outfits will string together in people’s heads like a flip book.
